Essential Job Duties:

  • Assist faculty, staff, students, and teachers in implementing Montessori philosophies in crisis, behavioral, and extracurricular situations
  • Provide educational and crisis intervention support to students and staff on as-needed basis
  • Maintains current and appropriate resources for education stakeholders for dealing with crises and social and behavioral issues
  • Counsel students and staff to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or extracurricular situations 
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
  • Interact with and observe children outdoor activities and playground safety
  • Assist in the orientation of new faculty members regarding crises, social and behavioral issues
  • Collaborate with and support Montessori lead teachers in the implementation of the classroom curriculum and schedule 
  • Support classroom environment preparation and maintenance

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, School Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a Mental Health related field + 3-years experience (or Masters degree + 1-year experience)
  • Experience must include:
    • Experience providing evidence-based interventions and counseling services 
    • Experience with domestic violence intervention
    • Mediation experience in multi-stakeholder crisis situations
    • Ability to maintain high standards of ethics and morality and to handle sensitive information discretely and confidentially
    • Experience/knowledge related to child development
    • Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team 
    • Able to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to parent, staff, and student needs and information
    • Comfortable with group dynamics
    • Demonstrate the following qualities: self-motivation, self-direction, ability to make good judgments, creativity, reliability, and dependability

Required Certifications and Licenses:

  • Fulfill and maintain all necessary requirements, credentials, and continuing education according to the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF)
  • First aid & CPR certification required
  • Must already have or be willing to obtain a Montessori certification in 0-3 and 3-6
