Job Summary:

Responsible for the support, maintenance, security and implementation of SQL Server databases for all production and non-production environments.

  

Job Duties:

§  Installs and configures database infrastructure using automated processes

§  Participates in 24x7 on-call support rotation for production databases

§  Monitors and troubleshoots various hardware, OS and database related alerts, jobs and performance issues

§  Architects, manages and tests high availability and disaster recovery solutions/procedures

§  Plans and executes patching, hardware/software upgrades and database migration activities

§  Performs capacity planning tasks for existing and new implementations

§  Reviews, evaluates and implements requests for changes to database architecture.  Works with development team on physical database design and T-SQL programming tasks

§  Reviews SQL code deployments and assists in product lifecycle releases

§  Manages TDE using 3rd party Extensible Key Management system (EKM), certificates and key rotation, to ensure data privacy and compliance with HITRUST CSF

§  Performs security monitoring and auditing duties as required by IT Operations procedures

  • Understands and complies with all company Privacy and Security Standards

§  Evaluates new database-related technologies

 

 Qualifications:

§  1-5 years’ experience in a SQL Server Database Administrator role supporting highly available systems

§  Windows Server experience

§  PowerShell and automation experience

§  Proficiency with backup/recovery strategies and procedures

§  Strong SQL programming skills and understanding of system catalog views and DMVs

§  Experience with columnstore indexes

§  Experience with table and index partitioning

§  Relational data modeling experience

§  Experience in Azure SQL VMs a plus

§  Must have high speed Internet (satellite is not allowed for this role) with a minimum speed of 25mbs download and 5mbs upload.
