Job Summary: As a Lead Cost Control Engineer with rail experience, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all cost control activities related to rail projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed within the budget and financial targets are met. Your main responsibilities will include developing and implementing cost control processes, analyzing project costs, preparing budgets, monitoring expenses, and providing accurate financial reporting. Your expertise in rail-related cost control and financial management will be crucial in ensuring that projects are delivered successfully, and profitability is maximized.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cost control processes and procedures for rail projects, in accordance with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and other expenses, to identify areas for cost savings and optimization.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive project budgets, including detailed cost estimates, and regularly update them throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project expenses and ensure that they are in line with approved budgets, and provide regular financial reports to project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to identify and address potential cost overruns or financial risks.
  • Conduct cost audits and reviews to ensure compliance with cost control procedures and guidelines, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Support project change management processes, including reviewing and analyzing change orders, assessing their impact on project costs, and providing cost estimates.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior cost control engineers and other team members, and promote a culture of cost consciousness and financial discipline within the project team.
  • Collaborate with procurement and accounting departments to ensure that project costs are accurately recorded, tracked, and reported in financial systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to cost control and financial management in the rail industry, and apply this knowledge to improve cost control processes and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in cost control or financial management, with a focus on rail projects.
  • Strong knowledge of cost control principles, practices, and tools, with experience in applying them to rail construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with rail industry regulations, standards, and practices, including relevant cost codes andfications.
  • Proficient in using cost control software, financial management tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex financial data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and documentation.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) are desirable.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices is a plus.
