TECHNICAL SPECIALIST, SR

(Facilities Structural Engineer) 

Position Description Summary

Engineer responsible for engineering plan/design review of the stations, MSF, parking structures, pedestrian walkways and related LAMP facilities. Reports to LAMP Engineering Manager. 

Essential Job Duties

·       Leads fixed facilities engineering reviews of design and construction specification/plans and commissioning/acceptance documents for APM stations, maintenance facility, parking structures and pedestrian walkways and related LAMP facilities.

·       Monitors Developer/Contractor structural design and construction requirements and commitments to meet client expectations.

·       Ensures the fixed facility engineering elements meet program established goals, contractual requirements, technical provisions, and good industry practices through the compliance review process.

·       Coordinates with other discipline support staff during task force participation, design reviews, submittal reviews, commissioning, and acceptance testing.

·       Coordinate with LAMP third party and interface coordination as well as roadway and utility teams. 

Hardware/Software Knowledge

·       A knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Bluebeam and/or Prolog is a plus. 

Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications

·       10+ years of demonstrated fixed facilities engineering on design and construction projects of similar size/scope/ complexity.

·       Familiar with the integration of complex structural engineering needed for fixed facilities.

·       Roadway and utility experience also a plus. 

Education/Training

·       B.S. degree in civil engineering with structural emphasis.

·       May assume other duties as required/needed

·       Maybe required to work past regular work shift if needed

·       Maybe required to work various shifts as needed

·       This position offers a hybrid/telework schedule. Telework - Monday and Friday. Onsite - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please refer to LAWA’s Pilot Policy for details 

Registration/Certification

·       P.E. preferred
