Introduction

The FPC Application Support role will perform a variety of technical support tasks for systems used by San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) Facility Planning and Construction team. Ideal candidates will have junior business analysis skills and a solid background working with software and technology. They must be comfortable interacting with a broad range of users, from those who are very technical to those who are not at all. They will be comfortable working alone or in a team to analyze and resolve user issues and ensure the applications they use are working as expected.

Description

The FPC Application Support role will provide application administration for systems used by District employees, construction companies and their employees, as well as local labor unions and their representatives. Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, those listed below.

• Triage and review application support requests, route those requests to the appropriate resources, follow-up on those requests as needed, and facilitate resolution of all requests in a timely manner

• Participate in all aspects of application testing and test planning, including developing test scripts, performing ad hoc tests, and leading user acceptance testing

• Resolve issues independently whenever possible

• Research and troubleshoot issues by soliciting all relevant information from users and document that information so it can be provided to any other support resources

• Document all known issues (application defects, planned outages, etc.) and resolutions or workarounds

• Create/maintain user guides and application documentation • Develop and deliver training to all audiences

• Ensure assigned goals/objectives and assignments are completed within prescribed deadlines

This person in this role will work directly with the application developers, project managers, business analysts, and users, completing tasks as assigned and, if needed, without supervision. They will be expected to be flexible and to adjust to changing schedules and priorities and be prepared to change their focus day-to-day as new issues arise.

Requirements

• Ability to analyze complex business problems and provide solutions

• Experience within an Agile development environment

• Good knowledge of current and emerging testing technologies and methodologies

• Collaborative team member with strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to complete individually assigned tasks, manage own tasks and schedule, while also working as part of a team to meet deadlines

• Ability to provide excellent customer service while also applying technical knowledge to complete routine and complex tasks

• Experience with any End-to-End Testing using browser automation tools

• Knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems to include the use of the management tools

Preferred

• Knowledge of construction practices and labor unions, including California public data and websites related to them

• Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services and DevOps

• Experience designing integration, system, and performance tests

• Experience with test suites and writing User Acceptance Testing scripts
