Position Overview:

The Technology Project Manager (TPM) is a technical representative, charged with addressing the technology needs of bond funded construction and Districtwide projects. This position will serve as a dedicated point of contact providing constant interactions with the Program Management Office (PMO), College Project Teams (CPTs), District and College IT staff, District and College Facilities staff, architect/design teams, building contractors, systems installers, and vendors to ensure design and functional requirements are met. The TPM will respond to all of technology project requirements and provide the necessary support to successfully deliver technology/construction projects on time and on budget. The TPM will identify, analyze, and resolve/troubleshoot design & construction problems. The TPM will manage coordinate the implantation of complex Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems (IS) projects. It is expected that the TPM will produce tangible deliverables to support their collaboration and communication efforts.

Position Description:

~Successfully manage and execute 5 to 10 projects simultaneously, ranging in value and complexity from $1M to $25M each.

~Documents and reports all project data accurately and in a timely manner.

~Create Meeting Minutes for all meetings attended.

~Successfully deliver IT projects on schedule and within budget.

~Follow and successfully execute program Quality Management System.

~Report and collaborate with Program Management Office on all IT project matters.

~Review and develop IT related contract documents and ensure deliverables are complete and accurate.

~Develop detailed technical scopes of work to support IT projects.

~Evaluate vendor/contractor’s job performance and compliance with scope documents. Review and evaluate IT project submittals.

~Coordinate budget and schedule information with the Relocation Project Manager regarding FF&E, Asset Disposition/Surplus, and Relocation.

~Track all project status and provide management reports relative to overall program relative to construction project delivery schedules.

~Assist with change order review and evaluation with Construction Project Manager and Cost Estimators.

~Plan, organize, coordinate, and report performance of IT projects to include cost and schedule.

~Identify risk and create risk mitigation plans successfully.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

~7 years of experience in management of multiple IT and Construction projects.

~A Registered Communication Cabling Designer Certification (RCDD).

~Experience in California Community College Facilities.

~Experience managing multiple IT projects with differing complexities and size.

~Experience within a capital improvement programs and familiarity with relevant codes and standards.

~Experience with deploying wireless (WIFI) networks and associated solutions.

~Demonstrated experience with developing Network Architecture, Design, and Scope documentation.

~Demonstrated experience reviewing and approved Division 27 and 28 Drawings and Specifications.

~Experience developing scope documentation, bill of materials, and validating all components for IT projects.

~Experience upgrading IDF rooms.

~Detailed involvement of all parts of the project life cycle, to include planning, design and closeout in regard to IT.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

~A valid PMP certification.

~A valid, CTS, CCIE, or ASIS certification.

~Experience in Design-Build projects.

~Familiarity with bidding and contracting process, and with programs that utilize public funds.

~Experience facilitating and coordinating end user training sessions.

~Experience with deploying Cloud-based facilities and IT systems.

~Familiarity with TIA/EIA Industry Standards.

~Experience in the integration of audiovisual, electronic physical security and/or high-speed data networks within construction environments.

~Experience with deploying Air-blown Fiber Solutions.

~Experience deploying network infrastructure including Cisco and Aruba.
