Summary

An Aviation Avionics Technician is a specialist who maintains, repairs, and installs the electronic systems in aircraft. These systems include navigation, communication, radar, and flight control systems. They are responsible for ensuring these systems function safely and efficiently, playing a vital role in aircraft operation and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned as required by management):

  • Responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing electronic equipment on aircraft. 
  • Responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues with aircraft electronic systems, often using specialized tools and equipment. 
  • Must perform routine maintenance and system upgrades to ensure optimal performance. 
  • Responsible for maintaining detailed records of maintenance and repair activities. 
  • Must maintain a positive relationship with maintenance team members, engineers, and pilots to ensure safe and efficient aircraft operation.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Required

  • A passion for aviation.
  • 3-5 years of experience in avionics
  • Professional appearance
  • Critical time management and logistical problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality of work
  • Actual work experience must include troubleshooting, use of specialized tools, ground support equipment, and the use of aircraft maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, technical reports and forms.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must adhere to VLA’s company values and core conduct
  • Must have a valid A&P License
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to work as a part of a team in a high stress, fast paced environment
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work with little to no guidance
  • Must be a highly motivated, detail oriented, organized, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and implement wiring diagrams and troubleshooting charts for various systems 
  • Must be computer proficient (MS Office, Aviation Maintenance Software).
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods.
  • Must have your own tools and toolbox.
  • Must be available to be on call 
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to read, write, and speak English at an advanced level.
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Highly Desirable

  • Collins and Garmin dealer experience preferred
  • Corporate aircraft type experience (Citation, Challenger, or Gulfstream)

 

Other

This position is a DOT Safety Sensitive position which will require placement in a random drug test pool.
