Summary
The Director of Maintenance (DOM) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of aircraft maintenance, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role involves leading a team, managing budgets, developing maintenance programs, and maintaining strong relationships with VLA customers. Key responsibilities include ensuring adherence to FAA regulations developing and implementing maintenance standards, and managing maintenance performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned as required by management):
- Directing, mentoring, and developing a team of maintenance technicians, supervisors, and support staff.
- Participating in the hiring process and ensuring proper training and development of the maintenance team.
- Evaluating performance, providing feedback, and addressing any performance issues.
- Fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
- Aircraft Maintenance Operation and Customer Coordination
- Overseeing and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of all aircraft maintenance activities, including scheduled maintenance, unscheduled repairs, and modifications.
- Ensuring strict adherence to FAA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance programs for aircraft, ensuring timely and cost-effective maintenance.
- Collaborating with operations and scheduling teams to minimize downtime and maintain fleet readiness.
- Developing and enforcing maintenance standards, procedures, and quality control measures.
- Managing the maintenance budget, including procurement of parts and services, cost control, and financial reporting
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Required
- A passion for aviation.
- 5-10 years of experience, with 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role
- Corporate aircraft type experience (Citation, Challenger, or Gulfstream)
- Actual work experience must include troubleshooting, use of specialized tools, ground support equipment, and the use of aircraft maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, technical reports and forms.
- Professional appearance
- Critical time management and logistical problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality of work
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must Adhere to VLA’s company values and core conduct
- Must have a valid A&P License.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to work as a part of a team in a high stress, fast paced environment.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work with little to no guidance.
- Must be a highly motivated, detail oriented, organized, with the ability to multi-task.
- Must be computer proficient (MS Office, Aviation Maintenance Software).
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods.
- Must have your own tools and toolbox.
- Must be available to be on call
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to read, write, and speak English at an advanced level.
- Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Highly Desirable
- Formal Gulfstream, Cessna, or Bombardier factory training

This position is a DOT Safety Sensitive position which will require placement in a random drug test pool.
