Ravenswood Solutions (RS), a wholly owned subsidiary of SRI International, delivers combat readiness field training to U.S. military personnel and other security forces around the country and around the world, is seeking a Logistical Operations Manager for our organization. The Logistical Operations Manager is a member of the Ravenswood Solutions Live Exercise Support Team. This position is located in our Boise, ID facility.

As part of a matrix management resource pool within the Sustainment branch, the Logistical Operations Manager (LOM) reports to the Sustainment Director, providing technical and management support to several exercise teams across multiple client programs. 

Position Responsibilities:

The Logistical Operations Manager serves as the primary administrative, logistical, and procurement representative for the planning, execution, and recovery phases of all Ravenswood Solutions exercises. Stationed at the Products and Services Operations Center (PSOC) in Boise, ID, this position requires extensive travel to many different client sites in preparation for and in support of FlexTrain deployments. Between exercises, the LOM performs duty assignments at the PSOC by the management team.

During an exercise, the LOM reports to the Deputy Rotational Director (DRD) and is responsible for recruiting, training, and managing a small team of temporary employees with varying backgrounds and levels of experience. They oversee the transport of all equipment to the exercise site, life support to contractor and military organizations (facilities, fuel, water, power, lighting, portlets, etc.), and construction of any temporary villages that are required for a given exercise. The LOM is the purchasing agent at the site, and the primary contact for the reverse logistics process (repair/replace). The LOM assists all support teams to ensure all assigned equipment is in good working order at all times. 

Prior to the exercise, during the planning phase, they coordinate with their assigned field supervisor (DRD) to develop their exercise staffing and procurement plan (vendor and employee roster, transport and setup schedule, and consumables budget), then manage and adjust the plan during the exercise as required.  At the conclusion of the exercise, the LOM assists the support teams with the inventory and recovery of all assigned equipment in coordination with other exercise team leaders in preparation for shipment to the next exercise location or the maintenance depot.

Between exercises, the Logistical Operations Manager assist with the publication and update of standard operating procedures and other documentation. They coordinate with other team members to review and publish lessons learned from past exercises and provide SME inputs to the product development team in support of new and ongoing initiatives.

The specific responsibilities of this position include:

•    Extensive travel to multiple locations (120+ days per year)
•    Participation in the planning and execution of two or more exercises per year
•    Recruitment, hiring, training, and daily supervision of temporary employees
•    Support the RS Procurement team with vendor identification and validation, requirements analysis/development, and quote review as required
•    Participate in the maintenance and repair of LOM and admin equipment
•    Fulfill routine duties such as inventory cycle counts, equipment storage and relocation, shipping and receiving including loading/unloading shipments, and coordinate/execute/assist with all staging and pack out activities
•    Oversee the construction, maintenance, and recovery of villages as required
•    Understand and follow the government & corporate property accountability procedures as published by the RS Property Manager

Additional Duties include:

•    Provide manpower and cost estimation inputs to exercise budgets
•    Provide lessons learned and recommendations for continual improvement of exercise support capabilities, effectiveness and efficiency

Required Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's Degree in Logistics or Business Administration (or equivalent), or 5 years of directly related work experience in the field preferred
•    Minimum 4 years of experience with shipping and receiving, transportation, procurement, supply management, and equipment maintenance required
•    2 years of leadership or management experience desired
•    Must be willing to travel for extended periods (up to 50 days per training exercise)
•    Documentation, technical writing, spreadsheet, and database skills strongly desired
•    Prior military service and/or familiarity with military training systems/events and U.S. Army property accountability procedures strongly desired

Professional Skills and Characteristics:

•    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
•    Demonstrates proficient oral and written communication, with strong attention to detail and an ability to interact effectively with people of varying technical abilities (engineers, technicians, and military personnel)
•    Demonstrate initiative with an emphasis on team building
•    Identifies potential and emerging problems with both equipment and personnel
•    Demonstrates flexible attitude and adapts easily to changing requirements
•    Able to perform well in high-stress, fast-paced environments
•    Forklift experience/certification and ability to lift up to 50 lbs strongly desired
•    Good troubleshooting skills and manual dexterity

•    Due to government requirements for this role and the nature of the work, candidates must be U.S. Citizens with the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
